Hair Loss

Hair LossAs a Trichologist, I am more concerned with helping you identify the cause of your hair loss rather than treating the symptom. When you are experiencing hair loss it could be an indication that there is something wrong internally in the body.  Improper nutrition, unhealthy lifestyles, and crash diets are some of the culprits that can contribute to hair loss.

Hair loss cannot be corrected until you make a conscience effort to make changes to your health and well being.  In order for hair to grow healthy, there needs to be adequate nutrition and energy at the hair follicle.  Since the hair follicle is not a tissue that is essential to the body, it is the last tissue to receive its energy supply.  Also, the hair follicle is the first tissue to have its energy supply reduced if there are other areas in the body that have a shortage of energy.

Hair grows in three continuous phases.  They are called the anagen phase, catagen phase, and telogen phase. The anagen phase is the growth phase. If the hair follicle does not have adequate energy and nutrients, the growth phase will be disturbed and your hair will not grow to its full potential and you will experience excessive shedding.  The resting phase is called the telogen phase. In the resting phase, any nutritional deficiency will cause the hair to rest a lot longer and hair re-growth will be slow.

Most nutritional deficiencies cause temporary hair loss that can be corrected once the disturbance is resolved.  Healthy diet, and happier lifestyles and the use of supplements can influence optimal hair growth. If you ignore the signs of your hair loss and the disturbance is prolonged, it can lead to permanent hair loss, or speed up a predisposed hair loss condition.
